About Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialty practice that requires four to six years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Dr. John additionally completed his  Medical Degree (MD). As an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. John manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. John practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to facial trauma.

This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Our office can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.

Oral/Maxillofacial surgery is performed to treat diseases and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.

Dr. John provides the following services:

  • Oral implant expertise utilizing multiple types of dental implants for your maximum success

  • Bone Grafting for implant enhancement

  • Anesthesia is provided for your health and comfort

  • Evaluation and extraction of third molars (wisdom teeth) and other teeth.

  • Reconstructive procedures including jaw surgery, repair of jaw fractures and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders and oral pathology.

  • Pediatric care and emergency services are also available.

MEET ANUSH A.JOHN

DMD, D.Min, MD

Dr. Anush A John purchased this practice in 2015 when he moved to Maryland. Dr. John received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine in 2007 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine in 2013. He also completed his oral and maxillofacial training from Truman Medical Center/UMKC.

Dr. John is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Association, and American Medical Association.

 

Currently, Dr. John holds certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Advanced Trauma life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He is also certified to administer anesthesia by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners and is licensed to practice in the states of Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Dr. John is honored to be featured in a 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 editions of Baltimore Magazine as a Top Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, after a survey of his peers.

​

In addition to his deep commitment to his professional setting and to his patients, Dr. John also has a passion for theology. He obtained a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Asian Institute of Theology, Bangalore, India. He enjoys teaching in a church setting and has the occasional opportunity to do so.

In his spare time, Dr. John enjoys photography (some of which is displayed around his office), playing his guitar  (see if you can guess his preferred musical genre), and cooking (the more unique or challenging the recipe, the better!). He resides in Baltimore County with his wife and three kids.

MEET OUR TEAM

The surgical staff at Anush A. John Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery.

All staff are informed administrative personnel, well versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR and PALS certified.

We recognize that each individual is unique and will work with you for the best outcomes. I have been able to apply my training and experience as a pharmacist to various aspects of this role - patient care and attention to detail - to name a couple things!
